about us

There are Slow Food Convivia in Devon and Cornwall. These are part of the worldwide Slow Food organisation dedicated to celebrating the pursuit of pleasure and enjoyment in food and drink and the preservation of taste. Support for the producers, growers and processors of artisan food is at the heart of Slow Food's activities and the crosscutting themes of sustainability and bio-diversity are fundamental to the movement's campaigning objectives.

Cornwall Convivium member Bob Lindo represented Cornwall at Slow Food's ‘Terra Madre' (a world food conference of 5000 delegates including HRH Prince Charles) in Turin. He instantly realised that Cornwall and Slow Food were made for each other, pointing out that “ Cornwall enjoys great traditions of farming, fishing and living at a gentler pace that we need to treasure and preserve". Familiar with Cornwall 's distinctive local cuisine, Bob knows “we have made great strides in creating a sustainable food and drink culture in Cornwall over recent years and a Slow Food group will be another important step”.
