More than 40 food and drink producers will descend on The Shops at Dartington over the Spring Bank Holiday for a two day foodie extravaganza that offers a unique day out for the whole family.
Now in its third year, the Dartington Food Fair, held in association with Taste of the West, is establishing a reputation for its variety and quality of products, sourced from across the South West. Taking place on May 26-27 in a charming, tree-lined shopping complex on the edge of the stunning Dartington estate in Devon, this is a perfect, informal setting in which to browse the stalls and enjoy watching mini demonstrations. The informal atmosphere provides a great opportunity to meet some of the most exciting and inspirational chefs and producers in the area.
And it’s not just the food that draws people each year, the fair also attracts a range of artists and craftspeople, showcasing their skills and artwork. Visitors can get hands-on with clay pot making, while face painting, fire juggling shows and Sunday pony rides will keep younger members of the family entertained.
Why not make a day of it and explore the Dartington estate? Guests are free to roam the glorious 25 acre garden or sample free foodie tasters and have a drink from Ashridge Cider’s hugely popular Devon Cider Bar while listening to live music.
The event is free this year and includes a whole host of new attractions including a visit by Partridge Farm Meats, which will be cooking up scrumptious rare breed pork and lamb burgers. Delish Preserves from Paignton will also be there for the first time, while Bays Brewery makes a welcome return providing real ale refreshments. Kenniford Farm’s traditional hog roast always goes down well, while BloomBerry Juice’s fresh juice drinks and smoothies should hit the mark in the spring sunshine.
