Fermoys, Ipplelpen

This comprehensive garden centre has a local farm shop at its heart. Food miles become food yards, as some veg comes from the Sutton Seeds grounds next door. Products made on site include homity pies, quiches and the award winning lemon meringue cupcake, with gluten-free diets well catered for. Abbfest, a local food and drink showcase (held in September) is based here, so many local beers, ciders, wines and foods end up in their farm shop. There’s a great selection of West Country cheeses and a huge range of pickles, preserves and honeys from across the county, as well as a branch of the excellent Gerald David Butchers.
