ITV launches a search to find Britain’s best bakery

By Sarah. May 11, 2012

ITV is looking for contestants for its new show Britain’s Best Bakery.

Over four weeks and 20 episodes, Britain’s Best Bakery will look for baking excellence, and will be judged by two big names from the baking world.

The show has already started a nationwide hunt, sampling the delicacies of independent, family run and/or community bakeries, and munching through buns, baps, pasties and cakes. Along the way, the series will shine a light on baking in the UK in all its delicious shapes and sizes, but the competition isn’t just about Victoria sponge and scones – it’s a celebration of everything baked, from organic artisan breads and rare Bedfordshire clangers to baklava and pandan cake.

The show will also meet traditional baking families with top secret recipes passed down the generations and hear stories of immigration through Chinese, Turkish and Greek bakeries.

If you are interested in taking part, would like more information, or want to nominate a brilliant bakery, please call 0207 985 7568 or email:

Closing date: June 15.
