If a company has been making cheese since 1952, you’d expect it to be good. And the Alvis family’s Lye Cross Farm Cheese is very, very good. Not surprisingly, its farm shop, set at the foot of the Mendip Hills, is big on stocking its traditional and organic cheddar. But it’s not a one trick pony: the shop also sells beef and pork reared on the Alvis family farms, as well as olives, pâtés, fruit and veg, homemade baked goodies, eggs (including goose and duck), dairy products and a range of other specialty cheeses.
