The clean-up is underway at East Devon attraction Otterton Mill after extensive flooding on Saturday. The owners and staff have been working intensively and aim to reopen by Thursday.
Owner Caroline Spiller, who runs the Mill with husband Simon and business partner William Casely, said: ‘Thankfully, the flood waters did not rise quite as high as our last major flood in October 2008. However, they did still enter all of the buildings and wash away our car park.
‘Because of the flood management measures we’ve implemented since 2008, we were able this time to significantly reduce the impact of flood damage on stock and equipment. Having been through this before, we’re also much better prepared for the clean-up.’
Caroline added: ‘We’d like to reassure customers that we are planning to be fully up and running this Thursday, and will go ahead with our scheduled Music Night on Thursday evening, when we welcome blues duo Jim Crawford and Marc Woodward. We’d also like to thank our customers for their messages of support and look forward to seeing them again later this week.’
Information on the clean-up is available via the Otterton Mill website.
