Relaxing by a wood-burning stove and enjoying fine wines doesn’t feel like you’re at school, because Master of Wine Alastair Peebles and his wife Carol love to create an informal atmosphere at The Devon Wine School, voted by the Daily Telegraph as one of the top ten places in the UK to do a wine course.
On the one-day introduction, you’ll learn how to taste wine, match food and wine, and what to look for at the supermarket. This course includes a buffet lunch but if you’d like more of a feast, try the wine tasting lunches (three-courses) or the great-value midweek suppers.
Saturday masterclass lunches this year include Wines of the Rhone Valley, Chardonnay, and My Dream Wine Cellar (this one perfectly timed on the eve of Fathers’ Day). There’s also a special lunch to celebrate Mothers’ Day and it’s worth checking out the special deals for couples that include five-star B&B.
